October is around the corner and planning for Halloween is in full swing. Check out these fun and festive ideas to help your practice celebrate with patients all month long!
Costume days
In addition to any festive decorations your office puts up, work with your team to pick a couple days throughout October where you all will dress up in costumes (can be the same costume each day). Patients will be surprised and delighted to come for their appointments and be greeted by a spook-tacular spectacle. You can even invite your patients to participate by announcing the costume days on social media!
Pumpkin-carving contest
This contest offers a large amount of flexibility for how it is run. You can host an event at your practice or a nearby location that is either outside or inside, or you can run the whole event virtually. If you choose a virtual contest, there are even more opportunities to engage your patient-base.
Have the contest active for the full month of October where people can submit their entries through email or social media. On the 31st announce the winners of first, second, and third place through a social post of your own or email.
The prizes can be anything including gift cards to local businesses, a seasonal gift or basket, a fun activity pass, or other items you think your patients would appreciate. This is a perfect way to connect with your patients outside their appointments!
Trunk-or-treat event
Trunk-or-treats are typically hosted by a community organizer, so check out the local events and reach out to see if you can participate in some! This is another great way to connect with current patients and reach potential patients!
In addition to candy, bring some fun promotional items to get your brand in their hand. These could range from a festive Halloween toothbrush, Halloween themed lip balm, or even a full Halloween toothbrush kit! Overall, make sure they are items the kids would like and the parents would find useful to keep.
Operation Gratitude: Halloween Candy Buy-Back
There are some ways to give back after the “fun” is over and Operation Gratitude is a great option! Each year, they run a Halloween Candy Give-Back Drive where kids can donate a portion of the candy they were given on Halloween to deployed troops, veterans, and first responders.
You can sign your practice up as a location for a donation center for the candy and even provide a small gift in return for their kindness. This could include a toothbrush, lip balm, or other trinkets. This is wonderful way to give back to those that serve our country while promoting your practice and a healthy community.
Make sure to get the word out throughout October that you are a donation center. Post on social media, make a page on your website or note on your homepage, send it to local media outlets, and reach out to schools with information. Overall, there are many more festive activities your practice can participate in or host, so pick some that are right for you and your team and have fun!
